Successful testing to increase active storage capacity in Sărmășel UGS and Ghercești UGS

Given the following:

  • current context regarding the security of natural gas supply for the winter of 2023-2024;
  • current storage level, of 100%, of the UGSs operated by DEPOGAZ;
  • increased interest in booking capacity from the market;
  • DEPOGAZ’ s development strategy to increase the total active storage capacity of Sărmășel UGS up to 1550 mil. Sm3/cycle and of Ghercești UGS up to 600 mil Sm3/cycle;
  • investment works carried out in 2023, namely the modernization works at 12 wells within Sărmasel UGS;
  • the project, currently under development, which aims to operate Ghercești UGS at an active storage capacity increased up to 600 mil. Sm3/cycle

and following:

  • the active capacity increase performance tests within Sărmășel UGS;
  • the testing of the current gauge of wells within Ghercești UGS,

DEPOGAZ communicates having operated a surplus of storage capacity of approximately 100 mil. Sm3/cycle, during the storage cycle 2023-2024, used to cover the storage requests received from customers in the market.

DEPOGAZ will take the necessary actions to include this increment in the total active operational storage capacity for the next storage cycles.
